Can you be a happy single? read more here

We have become indoctrinated with the idea that a person is not complete until they have found their “other half”. In fact, until recently, being single after a certain age was something that was looked down upon. Even if you were a happy single. Everyone, from family members to friends, would try to introduce the singles they knew to each other so they could get married and start their own families.

At present, this situation is changing. Being single is starting to be considered a lifestyle choice. It is no longer a sad and taboo subject. There are more and more people who choose to be single. The number of singles and signs is rising sharply.

But there is a big difference between being single of your choice and being single against your own desires. One who has chosen to remain single has it much easier. They have no internal conflicts over it – they are happy with their situation. On the other hand, those who are single despite a search for a partner tend to feel dissatisfied, frustrated, and powerless. These feelings can lead to either a desperate search for their “person” or total isolation. Although they are constantly looking, they can not find anyone to share their lives with.

So  is it possible to be a happy single? Can you be happy without having someone to share your life with? It all depends on your relationship with yourself. Let’s dive a little deeper into it.

Change your perspective

Whether it was your decision to turn up last time or not, that does not have to mean there was a problem or infidelity. In fact, we should not rush into a new relationship. But if we are with someone and feel as if we will always need to be with them, then we may be developing emotional dependence. Therefore, it is healthy to take some time to learn to deal with what we have been through.

Having a boyfriend is not a requirement for living. In the same way, being single is not a punishment either. We have to keep this in mind all the time despite all the conflicting messages we get from the media, movies and even our friends and family.

Being single is a great opportunity to get to know ourselves. To get in closer contact with our emotions and to do all the things we do not get done when we are in a relationship. In fact, several studies have shown  that being single can lead to a greater sense of freedom and higher levels of creativity.

Psychologist, Bella DePaulo, presented in 2016 evidence that single people have a greater sense of self-determination. They show a greater tendency for personal growth than married people. This means that being a happy single is possible and that it has its own benefits.

Happy single and sad single

Some days you will feel happy and other days you will feel sad. There will be weekends with parties and weekends where you just feel like staying at home. Watch your favorite series or movie. That’s life. D a being single does not mean you always have to walk around and smile. At the same time, it does not mean that you should always be sad.

Most stereotypes that our society has created require 100% joy all the time to prove that “we do not need others to feel perfect.” It can make you feel under more pressure. It is also unrealistic and causes you to lie to yourself.

Because loneliness (and therefore loneliness) is seen as an enemy, it is important to find enough emotional balance. That’s so you can be a happy single, even though you have no one to be with and sleep next to.

It is normal for our mood to go up and down. We can not blame ourselves for being single. The important thing is that we keep in touch with our emotions and are open to what they are trying to show us. And, most importantly, whether they’re trying to tell us we need to be with someone right now or not.

To be alone is not to be imperfect

Social pressure can deceive us. We swear we’m happy until we get home. Then we cry or get mad at ourselves for not being married or having children, just as society expects of us.

Many years of psychological indoctrination lead us to believe that we are imperfect if we are not married. But finding a partner does not mean guaranteed joy. We must not mix the two things together. The dream of marriage, children, pets and a house is not always a dream. It will not automatically make you happy. Happiness is not an emotion that comes from outside. It can only come from within.
