How To Recognize Humility

How to recognize humility

For centuries, being humble has been a virtue. To this day, it still has very high value. We value it in world leaders and also in those with whom we interact daily in a more intimate way.

However, some people are changed by experiencing success  and destroying some of the qualities for which they were recognized.

This raises the following questions:  what traits characterize humble persons?

How are humble people?

One of their most prominent traits is that they are people who are strongly committed to certain aspects of their lives. They do not seek success or fame, but rather the  honor and talent of what they do. Whether they work as a sculptor, home-working mother or doctor.

They want to improve the lives of others  without bragging about it by focusing on the process instead of the result. They are receptive to changes that may come their way.

Their instructions, commands, or orders are not demanding,  but they radiate an authority that is open to criticism and improvement.

They listen to others with interest   and without underestimating the value of people, whether they are artisans or politicians. For them, every point of view is interesting. It allows them to see things in a new light or to draw a more accurate picture of the reality around them.

Humble people shy away from power exhibitions. They feel that their reward comes with a job well done, which means much more than public recognition.

They greet, talk about big and small and say goodbye. Kindness to them is not only courtesy, but an expression of good manners and care for the people around them.

They do not judge others easily and they are empathetic. They engage in small actions in everyday life to simplify the lives of the people around them. They do not even know they are doing it. Their behavior is a natural, simple and honest flow.

They are consistent with their privacy and the public ideas that they express. Hypocrisy is not in their vocabulary.

For them, achieving a high level is  not as important  as finding a way to stay one. Even though it is a “lower” level, it is still a venerable and useful activity.

And what about those who lack humility?

They are arrogant, do not have a single self-critical thought, and engage in behaviors that exude moral, intellectual, and economic superiority. Relationships with these people are nerve-wracking.

They  do not exchange opinions with others to become wiser. They believe  that the only way to express their opinion is to avoid others. They ridicule the other and even bully them too.

They do not listen. They provide life lessons and advice that they expect others to follow. For the most part, these recommendations involve an underlying benefit for themselves.

They are obsessed with power and success.

On an emotional level  , they show joy in front of others as if it were a trophy. But in reality  , they often feel empty  and lack sincere meaning in their daily lives.

Therefore, one should practice humility without fear of being insignificant. You make a bigger impression than you think and have more peace of mind.
